FIRE ALARM SYSTEM:
An automatic fire alarm system consists of fire detectors and manual call points positioned in appropriate locations throughout a building or a risk to be protected. These are wired to a control And Indicating equipments which shows the location of the alarm call, and actuates the audible alarm sounders. A reliable power supply is provided including and emergency supply. It is particularly important to note that the primary purpose of the detection system is enhance the safety of the occupants of a building by giving an early warning of fire so that they may escape to safety, or to reduce loss of property by summoning the fire brigade at an early stage of the fire. Fire detectors are designed to detect one or more of the three characteristics of a fire, i.e. Smoke, heat or flame. No one type of detector is the most suitable for all applications and the final choice has to depend on individual circumstances. In some premises it may be useful to combine different types of detectors for effective detection.

THE VARIOUS TYPE OF DETECTORS AVAILABLE NOW are:

 Infra - Red Detectors.

The recommended type of Control Equipment is the Micro-Processor based systems for both Conventional and the Addressable systems. Again the Addressable system is the more reliable and effective system since this system has the in-built capability of Periodically monitoring the devices, eliminating the occurrence of false alarms, includes the exact location of the occurrence of fire, etc.

HYDRANT SYSTEM:
A fire Hydrant system consists essentially of pipes connected to a source of water supply and provided with outlets for tapping water manually through houses and nozzles during fire fighting operations. The design and layout of the Hydrant system are governed by various codes and guidelines chief among them being the one adopted by the Tariff Advisory Committee (TAC). Water being the most extensively used fire extinguishing medium; a well designed and installed fire hydrant system is, therefore, of primary importance in fighting major fires. It can be used to cool burning materials as well as to protect adjacent properties by keeping them cool. Its efficiency to control fires will, depend on the quality of its design and maintenance and also on judicious utilization by trained hands.

HYDRANT SYSTEM
 A full - fledged system with a jockey, Main pump & Standby pump capable maintaining the system in automatic condition with hydrant outlets depending on the hazard to be protected. Application – mainly for industries.
WET – RISER SYSTEM
 A system with a pumping source at the ground level capable of maintaining the system in automatic condition with Hydrant outlet. Application – for High rise buildings.
DOWN – COMER SYSTEM
 A System with a pumping source at the Ground level capable of maintaining the System in automatic condition with hydrant outlets. Application – for High rise buildings.
HOSE – REEL SYSTEM
 A system with only First Aid Hose Reels as outlet points making use of the Domestic water supply. Application – Low rise building & industries
CO2 FLOODING SYSTEM:
Carbon dioxide is a dry, non-conductive gas which extinguishes fire by reducing the oxygen content in the atmosphere. Its valuable property is its high expansion ratio. Carbon dioxide is stored under pressure in Cylinders, in liquid form. An installation consists of a battery of one or more CO2 cylinders provided with a common manifold, connected to a system of distribution pipes terminating then discharge nozzles. In case of a fire, a signal is received from the detectors located in the hazard area which releases the carbon dioxide automatically through the control panel. All the system are build with a provision to be actuated manually. The detection system is usually cross-zoned in order to eliminate the possibility of an accidental discharge. This is done by providing 2 zones for each of the areas to be protected and the discharge shall be activated in the event of the detection in both the zones. Detectors with different principles of detection shall be adopted in the two-zones.
